Taking a leaf from the private sector corporate offices, the postal department of the government of India is in for a major overhaul of its offices across the country. The department under its ambitious Project Aero, is giving corporate look to its offices - both in terms of its look, services and technological upgradation.
Under the first phase of Project Aero, Nanda Nagar sub post office of the city was given a corporate look and fully computerized and later on this refurbished sub post office was inaugurated by the Union minister of state for communication, Jyotiraditya Scindia at a function here in August last year. And now under phase 2 of Project Aero, GPO as well as Indore city post office have been completely renovated. Both the post offices which have been given a new corporate look, were inaugurated in a function at GPO, Indore by V C Roy, director, postal services. Under the phase II of the project, as many as 12 trendy and modern counters have been developed at the GPO. The post office has been computerized thoroughly with installation of 30 new computers. Besides, a touch screen and kiosk machine have also been installed through which the customers can have all the details related to several schemes of the post office, besides other informations. EMO facility has also been provided in the post office through which one can send money orders electronically without paying any additional tariff. Besides IMO facility has also been provided at the GPO for instant transmission of money orders. A digital scroll board has also been installed which will display works and time to be consumed for various works at different counters of the GPO. Roy informed that under phase III of the Project Aero, as many as 25 other post offices of Indore will renovated with technological upgradation.
